Hometown Hove celebrity!

When your friends tell you they've seen you in your local magazine, it's brings a nice warm glow. Thanks to The Hovarian for giving me the opportunity to talk about my Italian background and how it shaped Broken Madonna.

We even mentioned my love of gardening - in the novel traumatised, injured young soldier Giulio finds solace bringing the orphanage garden back to life. I really enjoyed writing about the herb garden he creates, with Adelina and Elisabetta's help, as a way of thanking Sister Beatrice for taking him under her wing. It's an imaginary Eden I've written, with all the connotations, partly influenced by a monastery garden I visited in Northern Italy. I hope it inspires you too!
